Senior AI Software Engineer - GenAI

Your responsibilities:

• As an AI Software Engineer you are part of our Global Agile Team, building AI-powered products that create real business value across ALDI
• You design and implement AI applications such as ALDI:GPT and internal knowledge solutions 
• You develop state-of-the-art AI agents and agentic workflows that automate complex business processes 
• You build production-grade GenAI solutions using modern frameworks and APIs, focusing on reliability, observability and measurable impact 
• You design and implement RAG systems, integrate vector databases and optimize prompts and context pipelines 
• You collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to translate real-world problems into practical AI solutions 
• You work across the stack when needed, including backend services, automation workflows and lightweight frontend interfaces 
• You build and maintain automation workflows (e.g. n8n) to connect AI capabilities with enterprise systems 
• You contribute to internal AI platforms, APIs and developer tooling that accelerate idea-to-production 
• You implement evaluation pipelines, guardrails and monitoring to ensure AI systems behave reliably in production 
• You write clean, maintainable code and actively participate in code reviews and technical discussions 
• You actively use AI tools in your daily work to improve productivity, development speed and solution quality 

The knowledge I own:

• Strong Python development skills and experience building backend services (e.g. FastAPI)
• Hands-on experience with GenAI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph or similar agent frameworks 
• Experience designing RAG pipelines, working with embeddings and vector databases
• Understanding of prompt engineering, context management and LLM application design patterns
• Experience building production applications with modern software engineering practices 
• Comfort working with JavaScript and React for building simple interfaces or integrations 
• Experience building automation workflows (e.g. n8n or similar automation platforms) 
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure and integrating enterprise systems (e.g. SAP) 
• Understanding of evaluation strategies, observability and monitoring for AI systems 
• Comfortable using modern AI tools and copilots as part of your daily development workflow 
• Experience with testing, code reviews and collaborative development practices 
• Fluent and effective communication in English within an international team 
• Growth-oriented mindset with willingness to learn new platforms and technologies 
• Comfortable working in an environment that includes operational responsibility; on-call participation may be required later 
   
  
  What makes a great candidate: 
• You have a strong technical background in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a comparable field 
• You have designed, built and owned multiple (e.g. 5+) production-grade AI systems, agents, or platforms that delivered measurable business value 
• You have taken technical ownership of AI solutions from concept through architecture, implementation and production operation 
• You have delivered several end‑to‑end AI products or internal platforms used by real users or business teams
• You have implemented evaluation frameworks, monitoring, or guardrails for AI systems in production 
• You are comfortable making architectural decisions around agent systems, RAG pipelines, orchestration, and infrastructure 
• You naturally think about reliability, evaluation, observability and failure modes when designing AI solutions
• You help raise the technical level of the team through reviews, mentoring, or architectural guidance
• You focus on pragmatic solutions that deliver business impact rather than purely experimental work
• You actively leverage AI tools to increase productivity and encourage responsible AI-assisted development practices within the team 

For bonus points: 

• Experience with agent architectures and multi-agent systems
• Experience with production LLM deployments or AI platform engineering 
• Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker) and modern cloud-native workflows 
• Experience building internal developer tools or productivity platforms 
• Experience working with enterprise knowledge bases and document processing systems
