As SOC Team Lead, you take ownership of our Security Operations Centre working in a tierless model, where our operators jointly monitor, investigate, and respond to security events around the clock. You ensure the team detects and responds to threats effectively, grows technically, and keeps improving how we defend the business — while you stay close to daily operations and set the standard for how the SOC of the ALDI South Group works.
You work closely with cross-functional security and IT teams to make sure incidents are handled quickly, threats are prioritized correctly, and lessons from every investigation feed back into stronger defences.
My responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of SOC operators working in a tierless setup, ensuring consistent quality across incident monitoring, investigation, and response
- Oversee real-time monitoring and analysis of security events and alerts, ensuring the team uses best-in-class tools effectively
- Guide and support investigations into security incidents to determine scope, impact, and root cause, ensuring timely and structured responses
- Drive threat assessment and vulnerability prioritization based on risk, leveraging threat intelligence across the team
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to remediate identified security threats and vulnerabilities
- Own the generation of security reports and metrics to keep management informed of ongoing incidents and trends
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of incident response procedures and playbooks
- Plan and manage shift coverage, ensuring adequate staffing across a multi-shift operation, including weekends and public holidays
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and staying current with industry threats and technologies
The knowledge I own:
- Strong understanding of security concepts and practices, particularly incident response, threat detection, and vulnerability management within the context of the broader enterprise cybersecurity programme for retail
- Proven experience working in a SOC or similar security monitoring environment, with hands-on use of security tools
- Prior experience leading, coaching, or mentoring a team, or clear readiness to take on team leadership responsibilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform correlations and think beyond the obvious
- Strong communication skills, able to articulate findings and align stakeholders across teams and management levels
- Ability to work in and manage a multi-shift operation, including weekends and public holidays
- Experience working in or leading a tierless SOC model
- Knowledge of IT Security Management (ISO27001, NIS2, NIST, MITRE) frameworks and certifications (CISA, CISM, BT1 or BT2 or equivalent)
- Familiarity with email protection and mobile threat defence platforms
The offer that would convince me:
- Possibility to improve yourself in a constantly growing organization
- Secure, long-term job opportunity at a stable company
- An above average salary
- Intensive, individual, and practical training
- Varied and interesting responsibilities
- Modern and comfortable working environment (adjustable desk and chair, sports facilities)
- Home office possibility
