My responsibilities:
- Operate, and continuously improve the enterprise data frontend platform consisting of the solutions Microsoft Power BI (Fabric), SAP Analytics Cloud and Tableau Server
- Act as platform engineer and technical administrator, managing the end-to-end platform lifecycle including tenant settings, tool rollout, compute capacities, workspaces, gateways, semantic models, security, monitoring, system integrations, governance, and user enablement
- Take full ownership of platform operations and continuous improvement, including incident management, proactive monitoring and performance management (e.g. analysis of log, usage metrics, network bottlenecks and refresh failures), documentation, technical debt reduction, standardization, and long-term platform maturity
- Design and support scalable cloud integrations and connectivity across Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, AI agents, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Business Data Cloud, Databricks, Alteryx, Spark, SharePoint, SQL Server, and associated authentication and gateway services (e.g. managed connections in Fabric, Power BI VM gateway)
- Analyze performance, including report performance, dataset refresh performance, capacity utilization, query behavior, and platform reliability and give recommendations for management decision-making
- Build and support automated processes and API-based integrations for platform administration, user & license management, data backups, metadata extraction (e.g. usage, data refresh history, access reviews) and platform health monitoring via REST APIs, PowerShell, Python and AI agents
- Implement platform governance and security standards covering workspace management, lifecycle processes, certification, access control, compliance, service principals, Entra ID groups, Azure Key Vault integration, row-level security, and least-privilege access models
- Collaborate with data engineers, BI developers, security teams, cloud & infrastructure teams, architects, and business stakeholders
- Translate business and platform requirements into scalable solution designs, operating models, technical patterns, implementation roadmaps, and guidance for AI agents, Fabric Apps, embedded analytics, and self-service BI
- Support Databricks, Spark, and Fabric notebook-based engineering and monitoring use cases where required
The knowledge I own:
- Deep understanding of BI platform management (administration, integration, monitoring, improvements)
- Hands-on experience with the administration of Microsoft Fabric and/or SAP Analytics Cloud or a similar analytics platform, including platform management, governance, capacity planning, feature rollouts, and user enablement in an enterprise context
- Understanding of cloud architecture and infrastructure and how enterprise BI platforms integrate with on premise/cloud solutions such as AI agents, SAP Business Data Cloud, Azure Databricks and relational databases
- Experience with REST APIs, Admin APIs, PowerShell cmdlets, and Python automation as well as network communications and proxy configurations
- Knowledge of Tableau Server administration (on prem), SAP data integration patterns, AI process automation or other enterprise analytics platforms is highly advantageous
- Understanding of service principals, security principals, authentication, authorization, Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, secrets management, and enterprise access control concepts
- Ability to extract, structure, and report on platform metadata, usage, audit events, workspaces, reports, datasets, dataflows, users, licenses, and refresh histories
- Strong performance analysis skills and experience with monitoring, alerting, diagnostics, incident handling, root cause analysis, and proactive platform health checks with a focus on management recommendations
- Good understanding of BI lifecycle management, Dev/Test/Prod concepts, deployment pipelines, git repositories, release management, and platform standardization
- Ability to design clear solution concepts, not just execute technical tasks
- Familiarity with AI agents, Azure Databricks, Spark notebooks, Microsoft Power Platform, and data engineering workflows is a plus
- Experience in agile or product-oriented platform teams is an advantage
- Fluent English, both written and spoken
