My responsibilities:
- Work as SPOC (Single Point of Contact) for data to the Analytical Use Cases and Reporting teams, translating their needs into clear data, data management, quality and governance requirements.
- Bring data management capabilities into use cases and reporting, including:

- Data asset/data capability management (cataloguing, role assignment, ensuring data availability)

- Data quality measures (define, test, and implement quality rules; support root-cause analysis using Python/SQL)

- Data compliance (govern access and usage based on security classification, data protection, and retention)
- Data Availability - Data discovery and requirements engineering: identify relevant data sources (e.g., SAP (incl. SAP S/4) and cloud data lake assets), clarify ownership and intended usage, and define the key tables/columns needed for consistent reporting and faster analytics delivery. Provide test data and ensure data being integrated by the platform teams.
- Expand and maintain the common data dictionary (in our Data Catalog) together with the use case/ reporting team and business stakeholders; ensure naming, meaning, lineage context, and usage rules are understood and applied consistently.
- Classify key and critical data entities (criticality, security classification, sensitivity) and align governance decisions with data protection and data retention requirements.
- Collaborate across ALDI Organisation (e.g. IPOs and country teams) on data-related topics, preparing and participating in the data community.
The knowledge I own:
- Several years of practical experience in data stewardship / data architecture / data management / data governance, ideally combined with business or data analyst experience (e.g., 5+ years).
- Strong knowledge of data ethics, data protection and data security, including experience with security classifications, access control concepts, and data retention/compliance considerations.
- Hands-on analytical capability to translate business requirements into data (management) requirements, supported by structured problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for testing data, data quality root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and validation of data quality measures.
- Experience with source systems and data environments, including initial working knowledge of SAP and data availability in a cloud data lake (preferably Azure) as well as big data concepts.
- Proven experience with data management tooling (e.g., data catalog and data quality tooling) and the ability to define, set up, test, and implement governance/quality functionalities.
- Excellent communication skills in business English (at least upper-intermediate), German knowledge is a plus.
- Intercultural competence and experience collaborating with multiple teams
- Academic degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or an equivalent qualification/training.
- Agile working experience and ability to support delivery for analytical/reporting teams while maintaining governance standards.
