How You'll Make Your Mark

Your main tasks in this role are: 

  • In our continuously growing Import team, as Import & Customs Operations Expert, you will provide advice on customs-related issues pertaining to imports and serve as the primary point of contact for all customs-related matters concerning import processes
  • In addition to providing advice, you’ll handle operational import customs matters and ensure timely and accurate customs clearance
  • You’ll prepare applications and maintain customs authorizations for imports, oversee their implementation, and ensure the necessary documentation is in order, as well as timely communication with the relevant authorities
  • You’ll review internally generated customs clearance orders for legal validity, completeness, and accuracy
  • You will provide support in responding to inquiries from customs authorities, resolving internal issues, and assisting with inspections and audits

Your Profile

The requirements of the role include:

  • You have completed a commercial apprenticeship or a comparable degree, ideally relating to customs, foreign trade, logistics or law
  • You have several years of experience in the operational and strategic handling of import customs clearance and are familiar with the relevant processes in practice
  • You have in-depth knowledge of customs tariff classification, calculations of origin, customs value assessment and customs law in the context of imports
  • You have experience in applying for and managing import customs authorisations and you are able to prepare applications independently and oversee the process from start to finish.
  • You can provide confident internal advice, make recommendations ready for decision-making and act as a specialist point of contact
  • You possess excellent analytical skills and a good understanding of the procedural interrelationships involved in customs clearance
  • You have a good command of MS Office and experience with customs or ERP/logistics systems
  • You have an excellent command of written and spoken German and English
  • A P36-, P37- or P38-certification is an advantage
