How you’ll make your mark

Your main tasks in this role are:

  • You will be responsible for supporting and driving the external communications activities and global alignment of the ALDI SÜD Group across a range of business topics and strategic priorities
  • This involves managing reactive media enquiries, working with subject matter experts and country communications teams to develop clear, accurate and timely responses
  • You will identify, develop and support external communications opportunities that help strengthen ALDI's reputation and advance strategic business priorities
  • You will monitor media coverage and emerging issues, identifying reputational risks and opportunities and providing recommendations to stakeholders
  • This requires you to support the management of reputation-related topics, helping to prepare communications strategies and materials during sensitive or high-profile situations
  • You will partner with journalists, media contacts and communications teams across ALDI SÜD countries to support consistent external messaging, manage media opportunities and ensure local relevance where required
  • In addition, you will advise stakeholders on the most effective channels, formats and approaches to reach external audiences
  • Preparing briefing materials, key messages, speaking points and other communications content for senior leaders is part of your responsibilities
  • You will lead communications projects and workstreams independently, ensuring activities are delivered to a high standard and within agreed timelines
  • Your responsibilities include working collaboratively across functions including Sustainability, Buying, HR, Legal, Corporate Responsibility and Operations to support business priorities through effective external communications
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of global external communications processes, tools and governance complements your field of expertise

Your profile

The requirements of the role include:

  • You have a degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in external communications, public relations, corporate communications, journalism or a related field, either in-house or within an agency environment
  • You bring demonstrated experience managing media relations and supporting engagement with journalists and external stakeholders
  • A strong understanding of the European media landscape and how newsrooms operate, with the ability to identify opportunities and risks set you apart
  • In addition, you bring experience supporting communications for reputation, corporate, sustainability, business or issues-based topics ; managing third-party stakeholders and engaging with industry experts
  • You are able to manage projects independently, prioritise effectively and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • You have excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear and compelling communications
  • You feel confident with stakeholder management  and working with senior leaders and subject matter experts
  • You bring experience monitoring media and social channels and assessing potential reputational implications for an organisation
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a global, matrix organisation is a matter of course to you
  • You have strong judgement, discretion and the ability to navigate ambiguity and sensitive issues
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal; German language skills would be an advantage
