Manager ESG Legal (f/m/d)

How You'll Make Your Mark

Your main tasks in this role are:

 

  • As a Manager in Group Legal at ALDI SÜD HOLDING, you will focus on providing legal advice addressing ESG related matters as well as the corporate sustainability strategy of the group
  • You will lead a team of 3-4 legal experts on ESG matters and, with the team, you will act as a strategic legal business partner to the International Sustainability department
  • As part of your day-to-day activity, you will support the International Sustainability department in developing governance and processes on ESG matters and provide legal advice on operational matters and strategic considerations
  • You will be tasked with monitoring and assessing existing and upcoming ESG regulations, defining their scope, applicability and impact on the business from a legal perspective and providing legal advice on necessary implementation measures
  • As part thereof, you will liaise with the group’s public affairs department, inter alia to support the preparation of position papers on key topics
  • In close collaboration with the International Sustainability department, you will liaise with the group’s country organisations on legal implications in individual cases
  • Where required, you will manage the engagement and supervise the work of outside legal counsel
  • In addition, you will act as contact for legal issues in relation to ESG topics raised by third parties, governmental and regulatory authorities and you will support with reports, notices or applications to authorities 
     

Your Profile

The requirements of this role are:

  • You have a proven record of relevant professional experience, including in managing a team, ideally with a substantial footprint in EU-regulatory / ESG matters, inhouse and international work experience are a plus
  • You are excited for the topic of sustainability as such, and you are eager to engage on all levels to take the topic forward
  • As a leader, you have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to collaborate across relevant departments
  • You have a legal university education, a legal qualification/bar exam from an EU country and an international legal education are a plus  
  • Ideally, you have experience in project work, including international roll-outs and implementations of projects or systems
  • Your legal professional skills are excellent including and you are open to incorporate modern technology into getting the job done
  • You have excellent English language skills (written and verbal) and sufficient German language skills (ideally at B2 level)
  • Your working style is independent, "hands-on" and proactively and you thrive in a dynamic environment 
  • You are open to travel, although this is not regularly required

Remuneration

Gross annual salary starting from €102.000* 
*willingness to overpay with appropriate qualifications
