How You’ll Make Your Mark

Your main tasks in this role are:

• You’ll own and continuously enhance the global analytical framework for store performance, ensuring that financial and operational KPIs are defined consistently and remain comparable across countries, store formats and maturity stages.
• You will analyse large store portfolios to identify patterns, outliers and structural performance gaps, separating controllable operational drivers from market, format, location and maturity effects.
• As part of the role, you will assess performance potential at store, cluster, region and country level, and prioritise opportunities based on value, feasibility and expected business impact.
• You’ll build clear driver trees and explain variances across sales, gross profit, labour productivity, operating costs, inventory losses and store contribution.
• You are expected to partner with country Finance and Operations teams to validate findings, understand local context, and convert analysis into practical improvement hypotheses and measurable follow-up actions.
• You will develop global benchmarks, peer groups and advanced analyses, including store ramp-up curves, portfolio segmentation, trend and cohort analysis, and scenario-based business cases.
• You’ll be tasked to design management-readyperformance narratives using Power BI, SAP and other relevant data sources, with strong emphasis on data quality, transparent methodology and repeatability.
• As part of the role you will provide concise, fact-based recommendations to senior stakeholders and contribute to the further development of global performance steering standards and reporting solutions.

Your Profile

The requirements of the role include:

• You possess several years of relevant experience in controlling, FP&A, commercial analytics or performance management, ideally in grocery retail, multi-site retail or another operational network business.
• You have completed a university degree in business administration, finance, economics, business analytics, data science or a comparable discipline.
• You bring a strong track record of analysing large and heterogeneous datasets, identifying root causes and converting findings into commercially relevant recommendations.
• You bring advanced knowledge of Power BI, including data modelling, Power Query and DAX, as well as strong Excel capabilities. Practical experience with SAP, SAP BW and/or S/4HANA is highly valuable.
• You have a sound understanding of store economics and key retail drivers such as sales density, gross margin, labour productivity, shrink, occupancy costs, store maturity and contribution profitability.
• You can distinguish correlation from causation, challenge data and assumptions constructively, and communicate limitations transparently.
• You feel confidence in working with international stakeholders, balancing global comparability with local business realities, and influencing without direct authority.
• Excellent English skills. German is an advantage but not essential.

Remuneration

Gross annual salary starting from € 107.000*

*willingness to overpay with appropriate qualifications
