How you'll Make your Mark

Your main tasks in this role are: 

  • As ALDI’s internal expert on corporate water strategy, you'll ensure alignment, technical rigor and credibility of our water stewardship efforts and environmental due diligence requirements
  • You'll support the development of ALDI’s strategic approach to water stewardship, including prioritisation of water-risk hotspots and basins for action, approach to WASH, alignment to landscape and regenerative agriculture strategy, impact measurement approaches and MRV requirements
  • You'll guide ALDI teams in applying technical guidance to value chain sustainability programs and advise on water stewardship strategies for priority agricultural supply chains and landscapes, with a focus on dairy, beef, coffee, cocoa and produce
  • Monitoring external developments from standards, frameworks and guidelines related to corporate water stewardship and nature strategy, such as VBA, AWS, SBTN, etc. and integrate relevant insights into ALDI’s water and nature strategy
  • You'll manage ALDI’s external relationships and memberships with key water and nature stakeholders and support opportunities for partnership and collaboration
  • Working closely with international stakeholders across buying, sustainability and external partner networks, providing strategic sparring and practical advice on water, nature and agricultural supply chain impact opportunities

Your Profile

The requirements of the role include: 

  • You have at least 5 years of demonstrated experience delivering or contributing to corporate water stewardship, water risk, nature and sustainable agriculture strategies, ideally within global food, retail or agricultural supply chains
  • You have participated in water-related technical working groups or cross-sector collaborations, which may have included workshops, providing feedback or piloting tools, frameworks, and other initiatives to accelerate collective corporate water action
  • You have strong understanding of water and nature-related standards, frameworks and tools such as VBA, AWS, CDP Water, WRI Aqueduct, WWF Water Risk Filter, SBTN, TNFD or similar approaches
  • You can translate complex water, nature and agricultural supply chain topics into clear strategic recommendations for commercial, technical and non-technical audiences
  • You have a desire to work in a dynamic environment with like-minded colleagues and enjoy collaborating with international stakeholders
  • You are comfortable operating with ambiguity and building practical strategies in an emerging area, connecting technical water expertise with business priorities, supplier realities and credible impact
  • You’re business-fluent in English
